I owned Coffey Ice Cream in Marblehead, MA for 20 years. It was a wonderful time in my life, and 20 years of making people happy. I loved every second of it. I watched a lot of kids grow up in and out of my shop, as I employed many Marblehead youth over my 20 years there. There is something very wonderful about handing people ice cream cones all day.
Covid resulted in the hard decision to close my doors July 30th, 2020.
Over that next year, I wondered what my next business would be. After a long winter and spring of researching, scratching down ideas, and thinking about what I could do without paying high rent, I decided that I wanted to have a food truck. This gave me the ability go to YOU, the events, the gatherings.
in Katy, Texas. On July 30th, 2021, exactly one year to the day that I closed my doors, I hopped on a plane, flew down, met the owner, became fast friends, wrote out a check, and hopped back on a plane to plan what I was going to do with it.
Fast forward today, to Sheila's Truck!
My mission was to keep making people happy with fun food! And while that remains the core of my business, it has evolved into something much more. Our mission now is to bring together local food producers, and local businesses, and support up-and-coming small businesses, while they support me. Explore the site to see what we are all about.
A sampling of what I have offered in 2022:
Vegetarian Chili, Beef Chili, Turkey Chili, New England Clam Chowder, Rhode Island Clam Cakes, Homemade French Fries, Homemade Pasta Salad, Homemade Potato Salad, Baked Haddock, Coleslaw, Individual Apple Crisps, Mac n Cheese, Carved Oven Roasted Turkey sandwiches, Applewood Smoked Ham sandwiches, Charcuterie Boards, Cheese, and Cracker packs, to name a few...
Every menu that is offered is created specifically to my customer's event, using only locally sourced foods. These are a few of the wonderful vendors that I work with and incorporate into my menus.
I did a menu for a 50-person private event in Lynn, using their Haddock to rave reviews. Family-owned, fresh off the boat. I plan to use them in many of my 2023 menus.
I source all my produce from this wonderful local business. Best tomatoes I have ever had! I did the Topsfield Tomato Festival this past year and made over 75 BLT's! We sold out. Enough said.
Great Rolls! I used their St. Joseph Bulky Rolls for a private event in Marblehead feeding 50 people a wonderful choice of Applewood smoked ham or Oven Browned Roasted Turkey Breast sandwiches, and of course, tomatoes and lettuce from Brick End Farms. I topped it off with a homemade pasta salad that I made in my commercial kitchen space that I rent at Hamilton Community Center in Hamilton, MA.
I will use their varieties of cheeses in many of my dishes in 2023, the best of which will be the grilled cheese and mac n cheese. I am experimenting this winter with some cheese dips for our 2023 event offerings.
This represents 2022, more local vendors to follow in 2023.
The best part of using products from local vendors is the community of small business owners helping and promoting each other.
This event was attended by about 500 people on September 10 on the Topsfield Common. What a great community event, we had great weather, great attendance, celebrating the community, and I looked up from my truck to see my neighbor playing in a band. Now that's community.
This event was at Moraini Farms in Beverly, MA on November 6th. Sponsored by Beverly Green, promoting sustainability and recycling. Did you know how to recycle a pumpkin? They did. I offered a vegetarian chili as requested by the event coordinator and we sold out.
This event at the Patton Homestead on October 13th celebrated local vendors, had some craft brewers, lots of family fun, and music. This venue has an event every week in the fall and in the spring, with rotating themes like movies, bands and the Harvest Festival. I participated in several of these in 2022 with a variety of menus.
Beverly, MA. This was a super fun event, I kept it simple, in keeping with the Beer Theme, and simply did Oven Roasted Turkey Sandwiches, all Beef Hot Dogs, Pasta Salad, Popcorn, and Lemonade.
Each weekend the Brewery picks someone to feed their hungry guests. I did sausages, homemade sauteed peppers and onions, hotdogs, and homemade french fries.
If you are interested in booking an event with me in 2023, Spring, Fall, and Summer, please contact me to discuss party size, (I do specialize in private events up to 50), menu items, themes, dietary preferences, and dates. I am booking events now and would love to speak with you about yours.
Have a wonderful and safe winter.
